The Training Centre of St. Louise de Marillac in Buma, in the Solomon Islands will provide a basic lifeskills training programme for young girls and women that  have not had access basic education. The basic lifeskills programme is a needs-based programme based in the community.

The programme will touch the lives of numerous women with its aim to generate self – confidence and enable women to earn a living as an entrepreneur or as an employee. This will be accomplished by holding regular workshops in sewing and embroidery (hand and machine), short workshops in jewellery and candlemaking, nutrition, tie-dye work, providing computer training and adult literacy. It will also train women to start their own workshops, giving them better chances to find employment in a store or helping them to set up their own stores and workshops, as well as mentoring other women in their communities.

In order to accomplish these goals, we need a facility where the women can gather for workshops and education courses. The project consists of the building of a new building for this purpose, and would include the purchase all required materials and equipment for the training.

Estimated value of the project is € 70,000.00.
